| Bio: | Name: Tohru Honda What world they came from: Fruits Basket (Anime) Age: 17 Species: Human Occupation: Student and maid at one of the buildings owned by the Sohma family. Appearance: She has a petite figure, long brown hair, teal eyes and small features. Special abilities/talents: Tohru is good at cooking and cleaning as well as getting others to open up to her. Quirks: She carries a picture of her mother around and oftentimes talks to it. Some people might consider it odd, but considering how close of a connection she had with her mother, and the fact that she is recently deceased, Tohru is likely using the picture to compensate for that empty spot in her life that her mother used to fill. She tends to be addressing her thoughts as well. Personality: Despite having everything she holds dear taken away from her, Tohru is still optimistic and counts her blessings. She is always grateful for everything she has even if it isn't a lot. She works hard to get the job done, sometimes even at the expense of her own health. And she is always thinking and putting others first, often making sacrifices in order to make others happy. An example of this is when she spends all of the money she earned to buy everyone chocolates. Tohru always is polite, proper, and well mannered. She doesn't want to be a bother or of any trouble to anyone and will go out of her way to avoid being such. She is not used to being despised or hated by others, but she puts the blame on herself if she is. It is her sweet, friendly, humble, and innocent demeanor that makes her so loved by those who are close to her. The author mentions that they wanted a mother figure in her. Tohru believes that there is goodness and kindness in everyone, to the point that she will take any amount of abuse to prove it. But ner naiveté can sometimes make her easy to take advantage of. Sexual orientation: Heterosexual. It is very doubtful that she would engage in a relationship. Tohru seems more interested in others being romantically happy than herself. Reputation: People are drawn to her, especially the members of the Zodiac. Though, some can be suspicious until they realize that she is generally a good hearted person. Others (like Shigure) see her as a means to an end. Background Information: Tohru's father died of an illness when she was 3 years old. Her mother worked hard to raise her by herself. Then, when Tohru was 16, she died in a car accident. Tohru's greatest regret was that she didn't tell her mom to be safe that morning. Every morning before her mother left she would tell her "Good bye! Be safe!" But the night before the accident, she had stayed up late studying for a test and woke up after her mom had already gone. She learned later that day, while she was in class that her mother had died in an accident. She went to live with her grandfather. But since he had other family members planning to move in, some renovations needed to be done on the house. He asked her to stay with some friends until the house was finished, but Tohru couldn't ask them since their living situations were already difficult. So her solution was to live in a tent by herself. Soon Yuki, the most popular boy in her school, and his cousin Shigure learned that she was living in a tent on their property. They took her back to their house to talk to her, explaining that living out there was not safe. While she is there, her tent gets buried in a landslide. The three of them go to investigate, and Tohru becomes upset that her mothers picture got buried. The next morning, Yuki shows up with a couple of bags containing her belongings and the picture of her mother. They give her the spare room on the second floor and in exchange for living there, they ask her to do the housecleaning for them. As Yuki is showing her the room, Kyo shows up to pick a fight with him. She accidentally transforms Kyo, Shigure and Yuki into their respective Zodiac animals and panics. They assure her that the transformation is only temporary and this is something normal for them as their family has been cursed. They only transform when hugged by a member of the opposite sex or are put under extreme stress. Shigure says that he needs to inform the head of the family, Aikito, about the fact that Tohru has learned their secret. Yuki tells her at school that he can't go against the head of the family, and Tohru might end up having to lose her memory if he decides it. Tohru says that it is fine if things come to that, but she asks if Yuki will still be her friend. Aikito's decision however turns out to be to trust her with their secret. Yuki is immediately suspicious. Kyo is then enrolled into the school she and Yuki are attending. On his first day Tohru interrupts an argument he has with Yuki and causes him to transform. He yells at her and she walks away, fretting over the fact that he hates her. Kyo meets her while she is walking home that night to apologize to her. Tohru soon learns that although the two of them fight all of the time, both Kyo and Yuki admire one another. But they just can't see the good traits that they have themselves. Yuki tells her that he is jealous of how easily Kyo is accepted by others. He also says that he is selfish. She explains that everyone starts off selfish when they are born, and that kindness is something that must be learned. She looks for it in everyone, knowing that it is hard, but she believes that it is well worth it. It is not long until Tohru meets Kagura who drops by for a visit. Tohru learns that she is engaged to Kyo and is amazed by Kagura's devotion to him. She hopes that she can learn to find so many things to like about one person like Kagura does with Kyo. So she starts looking for books at her school library that fit kyo and Yuki's interests. She gets a phone call from her grandfather. He tells her that the renovations are done and she can move back into the house. She informs Shigure, packs and leaves. At school, she runs into Kyo and greets him, but her walks away. Yuki however greets her. Yuki asks about how things are going. But she doesn't expect things to be the same between them. Her aunt and cousins are not all that thrilled to have her around. But Tohru remains positive and grateful for all she has despite the fact that they are thoughtless people. Her aunt even went as far as to hire a detective to assure that Tohru was not doing things that would make it difficult for her son to join the police. It is through this that they learn that Tohru was living with three men. He grandfather interrupts the conversation and talks to her outside the hall explaining that she doesn't have to stay and put up with it. She tells him that she can't be any more blessed and thankful for all that she has been given. But she admits that she just didn't realize how lonely she felt after leaving Yuki and the others, and how she wanted to learn more about them and wanted how she didn't want to leave them at all. Yuki happened to be there with Kyo and overheard this. Kyo tells her that she can stand to tell people what she wants and she can complain, get upset and let people know what is on her mind. She starts crying and tells him that she wants to go home. They take her home and she is happy because she feels that she finally in a place where she belongs. She tells her friends Uo and Hana where she is now living, and they insist on staying over and assuring that the place is a good environment for her friend to be living in. They realize that everyone in the house seem to understand Tohru and eventually approve of her staying there. When the cultural festival at school is about to begin, their class ends up in charge of the food and refreshment. Kyo gets upset over how Yuki's idea gets taken over him, and he eventually flees to the roof where Tohru later finds him. She tells him that she came up there because she was worried. Kyo explains how Yuki is better at him at everything and how that fact irritates him. Tohru remembers Yuki telling her that he wishes to be like Kyo. She doesn't understand that although they admire one another they always push each other apart. She wonders why they can't see the admirable qualities in one another but not themselves. The next day Tohru tries to tell Kyo about the admirable qualities he has. She then thinks that maybe that a person can't see their own admirable qualities is because they're like a pickled plum on a riceball. The person is the rice ball and the plumb is stuck onto their back where they can't see it… but they can see the backs of all the other rice balls save for their own, they just think they are plain but once turned around you can see that sure enough there is a plum on their back. Tohru tells Kyo this, and says that Yuki and him are admirable in their own ways. The day of the festival arrives and Hatori shows up with Momiji. Yuki is not happy with the fact that they came. And upon their departure, he tells Tohru to never allow her self to be alone with Hatori. He explains that it is not because he is a bad person, but it is because he is the one who erases people's memories. After this is explained, Tohru is paged through the school intercom and ends up meeting Hatori alone. He gives her the address to the main Sohma estate and tells her to come by to discuss some things with her. He also tells her that she cannot refuse the request and she cannot tell Yuki or Kyo about it. She decides to give him the benefit of the doubt, and Momiji assures her that everything will be fine. That weekend she tells Kyo and Yuki that she is visiting her friend's house, and visits the main Sohma estate. There Hatori tells her that if she enjoys living at Shigure's house, she should leave as there is an evil shadow hanging over the family. Momiji takes Tohru outside and tells her about Hatori's relationship with a woman named Kana, and how when Hatori asked Aikito if he could marry her, Aikito lost his temper ended up hurting Hatori's eye. Kana apparently felt guilty for what happened, blaming herself for it. And because it was eating away at her, Hatori made her lose her memory and forget the fact that she ever loved him. Tohru realizes that Hatori was only telling her to leave because he didn't want to end up like Kana. She ends up crying. Shigure shows up and winds up taking her home. She asks Shigure what the curse is exactly, but he tells her nothing, just to continue being herself. New years comes. Tohru plans to make New Year's cakes for everyone, but soon learns that New Years for the Sohma's is an exclusive party at the main house. Yuki and Kyo didn't want to go, but she convinces them to spend time with their families. Because Hana learned that Tohru is going to be spending the3 day holiday alone earlier that day, she ends up reminding them that it is the first year that she is without her mother. Yuki and Kyo return home to find Tohru crying looking at her mothers picture. She claims that a sad song came on and made her cry. They end up watching the sunrise together. The next member of the Sohma family Tohru meets is Hatsuharu during the endurance run. His intent was to pick a fight with Kyo. But the fight got put on hold due to the fact that Yuki's Broncial tubes became irritated. Since Yuki refused to allow Haru to contact the main house, the only option was to take him home. Haru hugs Tohru to transform into an ox, and he carries Yuki home on his back. Tohru then learns about how Yuki was Haru's first love, and how he once hated Yuki because he was the rat. In the story the rat rode on the ox's back, and the adults often half joked about how foolish the ox was for allowing the rat to do such a thing. Haru's black personality showed up as a result and one day, he met Yuki for the first time and vented all of his anger towards him. Yuki asks if he was really a fool and Haru tells him that he wasn't. Yuki said that he already knew that. Haru also mentions how much change he has noticed between Yuki and Kyo and assumes that it was because of Tohru's influence. Tohru bought chocolates for everyone. But it isn't until later that everyone learned that she had spent all of her money getting it for them. Momiji shows up and gives her a White day present; a trip to a hot spring owned by the Sohma family. Kyo and Yuki go with them. At the hotsprings, Tohru learns that the hostess is also a Sohma and that she has a child possessed by the monkey. She admits that at first, when she heard that Tohru was allowed to learn their secret, she was worried that she might have caused more suffering for her child, but she apologized because now she believed otherwise. Later, Yuki was amused by Tohru's not-so-mad ping pong skills and steps outside to laugh about it. She follows, and he gives her a White day gift. When they are waiting for the bus, Momiji informs Tohru that both he and Haru are going to be joining them in their high school, Which shocks her because she believed Momiji to be much younger than he really was. First day of class, Uo and Hana want to meet both of the new students related to Kyo and Yuki. Tohru sets out with Kyo to look for them. There is a small dispute between Haru and the class president reguarding Haru's hair color and Momiji's clothing choice, but it is soon resolved. Aikito also shows up and meets Tohru for the first time. This causes Yuki to panic when he notices that they were talking. Tohru ends up noticing Akito's affect on Yuki as he is talking to him and ends up pushing him away, with the excuse that they need to get to class. Tohru then meets Yuki's brother, Aya. Ayame takes her out for lunch, and he tells her about the gap between himself and Yuki and the regrets he has about it. Tohru suggests that maybe Aya and Yuki can meet each other half way. Aya decides to listen to her advice. He remains at their house for a while until Hatori shows up and takes him away. The anniversary of the death of Tohru's mother arrives on May 1st. She decides to visit her mother's grave. Yuki and Kyo decide to go to pay their respects with her. They are surprised by how cheerful Uo and Hana make the occasion seem. Having a picnic in front of her grave and all, but it was done in Kyoko's honor and memory. Later that day, Tohru learns about momiji's mother and father. She also learns about his little sister… and the fact that his mother doesn't know who he is anymore. She had rejected him, and needed to have her memories erased in order to get better. Momiji says that no matter what, he treasures all of his memories, even the sad ones. Golden week arrives and the go to a lake house. Shigure sends Kyo, Yuki and Tohru on a walk. Tohru worries about how tense things seem to be between Yuki and Kyo. Neither of them had been fighting lately and she thinks that they are being this way because she did something to make them uncomfortable at her mother's gravesite. She apologizes and it confuses them. Tohru ends up falling, Yuki and Kyo grab her and break her fall and as a result they transform. She is sobbing as she goes to pick up their clothes… then the two start fighting and it is much to her relief. She starts laughing because they are back to their old selves. They tell her that they just had a lot of things on their minds. She apologizes for making a big deal out of nothing. The next member of the Sohma family Tohru meets is Kisa. Who stopped speaking due to the fact that she was being picked on at school. She ran away, and transformed and was soon found by Hatsuharu and taken to Shigure's house. Her mother shows up and asks her why Kisa didn't talk to her or tell her what was going on. Tohru says that she must have been afraid to. Because Kisa couldn't bare the idea of someone she loved being ashamed of her. Kisa reverts back into human form. Her mother is given a break and Kisa stays at Shigure's house for a while. She follows Tohru around for 3 days but she still doesn't talk. Yuki is the one that succeeds in getting her to speak again. Noting that sometimes the only way you can start recognizing the good qualities in yourself, is for someone else to see them. Yuki decides to accept the nomination for student council in the end. The next episode doesn't have much of Tohru. It mostly details an encounter between Hana and the Yuki fanclub girls. Not much to cover Tohru wise. At then end of it, Tohru does express that she hopes to be able to protect Hana should she need her, the same way does. Tohru fails one of her midterm exams and has to retake her test, she stresses about it so much she ends up getting a fever. Shigure asks momiji to tell her boss that she can't make it in to work. Instead, Momiji just ends up taking her place. Kyo learns that leeks are the best cure for a cold so he steals some from Yuki's garden and cooks Tohru a meal. He tries to cheer her up while she eats. Hatori comes to check up on her and Kisa comes too. Momiji shows up as well to see how she is doing. Yuki also makes her a study guide for when she retakes her test. In the end she passes it. Tohru meets Hiro from the Sohma family. He's a snot to her, and steals her notebook along with her mother's picture. Turns out he was just jealous of how much attention Kisa had been giving Tohru. Tohru chooses not to accept his apology and says that he has to be punished! His punishment turned out to be a hug from her. It is this way that she learns that he is the sheep from the Zodiac. After spending time with him and Kisa, Tohru soon learns that Hiro was having trouble accepting that he was just a child. The truth is that he loves Kisa, but he couldn't help her when the other children began making fun of her. He had started avoiding her around that time because of aikito's reaction to the fact that he confessed he loved her. Tohru assures him that he will one day grow up to be Kisa's prince. He doesn't believe her, but decides that he will try to become so. The last Sohma Tohru meets is Ritsu. Tohru leans that he dresses as a girl because he feels more comfortable doing so. His parents often ended up apologizing for him and he believes that his parents didn't deserve a child like him. He thinks it would have been better if he was never born as he doesn't see any reason to live. Tohru tells him that everyone is looking for a reason. And it is not just for living for yourself, but living for others. She tells him that the world is a much better place with him in it which was exactly what he needed to hear. Aikito decides that it is time to show Tohru Kyo's true form, believing that after she sees it, she will never set foot in that house again. Akito believes that it would also upset Yuki. In the meantime, Kagura shows up and she goes shopping with Kyo. She tells Kyo that he won't be able to hide his true form from Tohru forever. Kyo tells her that it is none of her business. Kazuma arrives at Shigures house. He is the man that had taught Yuki, Kyo, Haru and Kagura Martial arts. He came on Aikito's orders to reveal Kyo's true form to Tohru, and planned to do it that night. Not suspecting anything, Kazuma removes Kyo's bracelet and Tohru sees Kyo's true form. Kyo flees and she goes after him, not answering Kazuma when she asks if it is revolting or freighting to her. She trips and ends up sobbing by a tree. Aikito finds her and asks if something wrong and says he says it servers her right. He promises to make her suffer the way they do. Shigure shows up and Aikito leaves… she stands up and wanders off leaving Shigure crying in the rain. In the mean time,Yuki, decided to go after Kyo as well. Sensing something, Hana dragged Uo out to visit Kyoko's grave. They find Tohru crying there. They asked what happened and she answers that she can't go back. She didn't belong with them and she never has. Uo trys to comfort her but Hana stops her and tells Tohru to go. She yells at her to get up and get going and slowly, Tohru does. Tohru everntually finds Kyo along with Yuki. When Tohru falls, Kyo tries to flee and Yuki grabs him. He tells Tohru to tell him the truth, to tell Kyo what she thinks. She gets up and grabs his arm. She says she is afraid, but still she wants to stay together. He changes back and tells her its ok for her to be afraid, because that means that she saw him for what he truly was. He changes back into a human, hugs Tohru and transforms. She carries him back to Shigure's house. The next day Tohru asks to go see Aikito. And the next day they go to see him. Akito asks what she had come here for. She answers that she doesn't know. Aikito gets up and grabs her by the hair. Yuki and Shigure try to restrain him. Aikito says that its not because she doesn't know. She was going to say that she was going to continue living with the Sohma. He says that she will suffer, and she will suffer as they suffer. She says that it must have been painful learning the day that he was born that he was going to die. And how very sad everyone will be to lose him. He give the order for Tohru's memory to be erased but Hatori does nothing. Tohru tells Aikito doesn't regret meeting him or anyone and says that she wants to know him. Tell her how he feels even if he is angry or bitter, because right now, he's alive. He lets go, shoves shigure and Yuki out of his way, steps back and says "I don't know." They leave. She promises to tell Kyo what happened later. Heaven or Hell? Heaven. | |||||||||
